Pride and Prejudice
by Jane Austen
I am in the middle of reading Pride and Prejudice, but I wanted to see how everyone was getting along with the book and how you liked it. I am enjoying it very much, but I have to be honest: Miss Austen can be very wordy at times. When Mr. Collins is involved I am pretty bored with all the mumbo-jumbo Austen writes. But I have to say that Mr. Darcy is even more intriguing in the book than in the movies, and his interest and growing love for Elizabeth is better explained in the books. I am actually glad I watched the movies first because there are moments when I would have no idea what Jane Austen is talking about if I hadn't seen the movies and known the plot.
So far so good!! I will be finished with it by Feb. 17th, seeing as it is due at the library then, so I will have more to discuss soon!
How is your reading coming along? Any thoughts on the book thus far?
This is one of my all-time favorite books!! The first time I read it was for a book club and I thought--I'll just get through the first half, because I was like you and thought there's too much to read at times. But by the middle I was hooked! I couldn't stop reading it. I've read it twice since then. I'm glad I read it first because when I watched the movies, I understood stuff better and it made the movie more exciting for me because I knew what was coming and, well, I was just excited. So enough rambling, I just wanted to say how much I love this book!! Good choice! If it's ok, I'll follow along and hopefully read your next book. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I am still reading, not quite half way yet but I do like it very much, especially learning how Mr. Darcy falls madly in love with Elizabeth. Funny enough my mother in law is costuming the play Pride and Prejudice, so I am hoping to go see it. I think I will enjoy the movie even more after reading the book.
